The AISOCC welcomes Harold Ruslander as new consulting member.
Harold “Rus” Ruslander is the Chief Forensic Investigator for the Palm Beach County Florida Medical Examiners Office. He has over 45 years in the field of Law Enforcement and Public Safety. Mr. Ruslander began his career in 1969 as police officer in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
After retiring, he re-located to West Palm Beach, Florida, where he became the supervisor for the Lake Worth Police Departments’ Crime Scene Unit for 3 ½ years. He then worked for the Palm Beach Co. Sheriff’s Office as a crime scene investigator for 6 ½ years before becoming the Chief Investigator for the Medical Examiner’s Office in January, 2003.
Mr. Ruslander has in excess of 5000 hours of specialized training in forensics, is certified by the IAI as a Senior Crime Scene Analyst and a Certified Latent Print Examiner. He is also certified by ABMDI as a Registered Medicolegal Death Investigator. He was the first person in Florida to be IAI certified as a Bloodstain Pattern Analyst and is EPIC certified as a Certified Evidence Photographer. Mr. Ruslander is a past president of the Florida Division of the International Association for Identification and an active member and a vice president of The International Association for Identification as well as the vice president of the Gold Coast Forensics Association.
Mr. Ruslander has published over 25 articles in 10 different publications and has taught throughout the United States. He is certified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement as a training instructor and regularly gives workshops for the IAI, the FDIAI, The Taylor Group, The Gold Coast Forensics Assn. as well as other agencies and groups. Mr. Ruslander is also the President of Crime Scene Specialists, LLC, a forensic training and consulting company.”
